PolGov, in collaboration with the Wonolelo Village Government, Pleret Subdistrict, Bantul Regency, held a village apparatus selection on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. This selection was intended to occupy the chief financial officer (Kaur Keuangan or Danarta) position, which is essential for the village’s financial management and accountability.

Five candidates participated in the selection process and it was held on the 4th floor of the BA Building, FISIPOL Universitas Gadjah Mada. This place was chosen to ensure a professional, academic, and conducive atmosphere.

Furthermore, the committee emphasized the importance of government accountability. This aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which encourage strong institutions and effective governance. This partnership reflects a commitment to development assistance and the enhancement of local governance. By carefully selecting qualified individuals for key positions, the village aims to boost its administrative efficiency and public service.

The committee conducted an interview and assessments to assess the candidates’ knowledge and skills in financial management. This strict process was designed to ensure that the selected candidates have the prerequisites necessary to carry out their responsibilities.

To wrap up the event, the committee expressed optimism about the future of the Wonolelo Village administration. The election of an accountable Kaur Keuangan is expected to improve the performance of the village. An accountable process for selecting the Kaur Keuangan is expected to increase public trust in local government, which then leads to better development outcomes.

This successful event became a model for other villages, which illustrated the importance of accountability and capacity building at the local level of governance. It is a step forward in achieving the SDGs and ensuring that local institutions are prepared for future challenges.
