Call for Proposal Research on

The Research Centre for Politics and Government (PolGov) Universitas Gadjah Mada Yogyakarta and Australian National University (ANU) Canberra are seeking proposals for its research on Local Elections (Pilkada) held in 2017.

Focus Areas:

  1. The organization of campaign teams at the neighbourhood level
  2. The role of women in campaign structures and voter mobilization
  3. Patterns and organization of vote buying in a particular locale
  4. Comparison between electoral strategies in legislative, presidential and district head elections in a single location
  5. Incumbency advantages
  6. Campaign financing

Modest funding support will be provided to support 30 days of fieldwork-based research in early 2017. The successful applicants will be invited for a workshop in Yogyakarta 15-16 December 2016, and a paper workshop in March 2017. Editorial and translation assistance will be provided through the research process.

Your proposal should include:

  • A MAXIMUM two-page summary (written in English or Indonesian) outlining :
  1. Your topic
  2. Main research question(s)
  3. Research plan
  4. Anticipated contribution to exiting scholarly literature
  5. Brief bibliography of most relevant existing works
